Why would fusalang help? What he did is the textbook tactic of how to race someone who has a better sprint than you. Julian should have kept pulling.

Everyone in the peloton is on notice now. He will likely now get the sagan treatment going forward

I've seen 70mph on Taylor Phinney's Strava before on descents in Colorado during training rides.
I've personally hit 64mph coming down roan mountain
My max is about 55 and I felt like I was flying. I guess it's possible but didn't know amstel gold to be full of super fast downhills. Ive also seen GPS glitches on my Strava that had me hit like 150mph.

They should make a board for other sports besides the big ones. Maybe call it the More Sports Board.

Cycling threads never get much action on MSB.

It’s a fine line- Fuglsang could pull a bit and at worst be second vs. not at all and get caught by the rushing peloton and get nothing
In interviews Fuglsang said he was told by his director to not pull at all and but that their information on the time splits was way wrong.
The end of the race reminds me of stage 3 in the 2007 TdF when Cancellara brought a storming peloton to catch a non cooperating breakaway and then sprinted past them for the win

MVDP not scheduled to do any more road races this year. He doing MTB world cup this summer then back to CX in the fall. So world tour don't have to worry about him until next spring.

I think he will show up for World's

frickin incredible.
Let's just start here:
278W (average) for 6 hours and 26 minutes.
337W (weighted average) for 6 hours and 26 minutes.
For the last hour, he rode at 350W, chased down the break, went straight into unleashing a 1,400W sprint.
Mother. frick. That is nuts.
ETA: And over 6,400 kJ of energy expenditure. Holy shite. For the layperson, this means this dude burned around that many calories during that race. Typically, a well-trained athlete will have around 1,500 calories of glycogen available. He had to supplement with food, gels, sports-drinks, etc. throughout the race in a way to give his body the fuel to race that hard. That in itself is a chore for these guys!
