Are you getting new bites? Or has your skin cleared up but you're still itching?

Funny that you bump this today.
My 14 year old got diagnosed with this today, and so did his friends. His is just on his hands so we thought it was poison oak or sumac and have been treating it that way, over the weekend it start d making his fingers swell really bad so I took him to see the doc this morning and he diagnosed it within 2 minutes. They gave him the permethrin and told him to lather up with it after his shower tonight and then in 8-12 hours shower again and wash it off. He said one treatment should kill the mites but he could still be itchy for 4-6 weeks after.
Side note: ivermectin is used as horse wormer too.

It's hard to tell. I'm scratching all the same areas and making new wounds and cuts.

Stuff seriously will make you claw at yourself like you have leprosy. It's miserable.

And to the other poster, yes, I think it's been about 10 months now. Been to 3 doctors over it and finally when I went to a dermatologist 3 weeks ago he diagnosed it in seconds.

If you're getting new burrow marks, then they aren't dead.

I've never known anyone with scabies. You are doing something wrong.

I feel for you, bro. This sounds miserable. It seems like you would be in danger of re infecting your family if you can't get rid of them. Is it possible you are getting it from work or somewhere only you regularly go?

I assume you're talking about a prescription for this.

Or you can get it at your local feed and seed.

Try Vetericyn VF. It's for horses, but I use it on myself - it's a miracle drug - it's an antimicrobial, anti-fungal; actually kills MRSA. One of my horses had a nasty scabies-like parasite and I used vetericyn and it cleared it up quickly. You have to get the VF formulation from a vet. It's five times stronger thn the regular version that you can buy at feed-stores OTC.

A friend of my sons slept over a few days and fricking spread that shite everywhere. You have to think of scabies as being airborne since they are as small as dust mites.

I was extremely paranoid with dirty clothes that I had worn over the last day or two. Took 4 days. Put all dirty clothes in plastic bags and let them sit for 3-4 days (over a week with some of them. Just lazy.... Bought new sheets and a towel(left them in the WalMart bags). Carefully got some clothes out of the drawer that had been in there at least a week, then put them in plastic bags.

I was left alone in the house. One son went with his mom, the other and his girlfriend went to her parent's house. They had clean clothes in bags and their existing clothes were washed in HOT WATER.

I applied medicine..EVERYWHERE. Under fingernails, toenails, between toes, fingers, butt cheeks to the anus, crotch, balls, dick, everywhere. I think this is when I stripped the beds, while the medicine was on me and I was buck-assed naked.

Washed the medicine off, used a clean towel from the plastic bag, put new sheets on the beds. Wearing flip flops. Then I went to sleep.

Got dressed with the clean clothes from the bag. Left the house for two more days at a hotel.

On the 4th day I went home and very carefully started washing clothes in hot water. frick the color; everything got washed in hot water. We were not affected again. Extreme paranoia helped.

Those little frickers are supposed to die after 3 days without a host, so somehow you have them somewhere on something that you are coming into contact with. I even sprayed a little Bengal on the sofa and cloth recliner, just to be safe (don't know if it worked) and when I sat on the leather recliner I used a clean sheet (this was right before I went to sleep...LSU was playing a game somewhere).

Good luck.

Im sure this has already been mentioned, but go to the dr and specifically ask for Ivermectin. I tried EVERYTHING else, it was the only thing that worked for me, almost instantly. They will give you two doses, one for immediately and one for two weeks down the road. You should also ask for some for the people you live with/come in close contact with often. It's not controlled, so they should not have a problem with this.

Wash all your clothes and sheets in hot water. Take pillows and put in trash bags for atleast 7 days. Scabies can only survive on a food source (read: YOU). Make a bleach/water mixture, no more than a tablespoon or two in hot water in a spray bottle. Spray EVERYTHING. You can also use vinegar, but I think I'd rather die of scabies infestation than smell vinegar all over my house.

Scabies is a truly TERRIBLE predicament to be in, I went on a full scale war with them for about three weeks. Like you said, couldn't sleep, red bites everywhere, especially in creases like armpit, behind knee, etc. They only move when you are still, so that's why it is so bad at night. I literally scratched myself raw. Hope you get some relief soon! Good luck.
