Find someone who has Direct already and get them to refer you. Both of you will get a discount. I'm not sure of how much it is.

Referral is $100 for each of you. They take $10 off your bill for 10 months. You'll get Sunday Ticket free your first year. There are really no other tips/tricks to savings, other than signing up at Sam's Club seems like the way to go

Curious as to why you're switching. I made the switch from directv to dish about a year ago and couldn't be happier. Much better service and features with dish

I did the exact opposite. DirectV has a great product and terrible customer service, Dish Network has a great product, even better satellite receiver boxes and good customer service.

I've been a Directv guy for five years now and that is swiftly coming to a halt. We are moving next month and I refuse to have Directv again. Dish or Charter are my two options at our new house.

Good call, Dish has the worst customer service I have ever come across. They also have a shitty product

Why would you want to switch? Dish is embracing an a la carte programming model which is going to be a real game changer in the industry. I'd sit tight for a while and watch it develop.

Just get rid of cable entirely. I cut the cord 2 years ago and haven't regretted it at all.

I moved from Direct to Dish and Direct immediately started offering me deals they would not give me as a customer. I had been with direct for 8 years.

I put it on my calendar to shop service again when my two year deal is up.

I will then consider dropping satellite and going with digital local and Apple TV and their new TV product that includes ESPN.

Explain?

To answer others, I have had Direct and Dish. Made the switch to dish years ago so I could get CST. In my experiences Direct when I had it years ago they would work with you and give current customers offers if you pressured them. Dish will not budge at all and they continually raise their prices and drop channels at the same damn time.

Tell them the only reason you want to switch to them is Sunday Ticket. And say you want a deal.

I call every year and tell them the only reason I stay with them is Sunday Ticket and they end up giving it to me for free. That's like a 400+ discount.

I've had both and I prefer Dish. Besides, I prefer NFL Redzone to Sunday Ticket.

Nice concept and very interesting. I am sure it will take a year or two before they have a large channel lineup. Looks like I will be signing one more contract and then dumping satellite for good.

I agree this sounds like it could be a game changer. If this succeeds it and the competitors that come in will kill cable and satellite tv.

I've had dish for 4 years and called about 2 months ago to cancel, I was planning on cutting the cord and streaming everything. Dish cut my bill in half and added movie channels for free without any strings.
