Bobby Meador's?

May have been, off Fla. Blvd, in the current Belaire High area. I think on Little John???

Yes, Bobby Meador was a local Bass Fisherman who had a small TV show. He would walk around with a pitcher of beer and top you off while chatting.

i think i remember there being a store in the middle of the parking lot in front of the old Broadmoor Theater that was sort of a flea market maybe. I know the old flea market at the Rebel shopping center

AYCE Catfish with hushpuppies and a great family atmosphere.

Couldn't beat it for the price.

Wasn't there a school on College somewhere as well (near the interstate, not Westdale Elementary).

Yea, it may have been Valley Park Elementary. It later housed some school board offices before it was demolished.

Community grocery store at Government/Eugene.
When I was little my grandmother used to send me down there to buy her cigarettes. She would give me 6 cents to buy a candy bar.

Just across Government was Pak-A-Sak. We would stop there on the way to church to pick up a Sunday newspaper and 2 comic books. Used to love my Icee's too.

Crazy how two elementary schools were less than a mile from each other. I'm guessing this had everything to do with segregation.
