Does anybody remember Tic Toc Shoe's?
I think there was one on Government and also in the Broadmoor shopping center.

Now there's one that I wouldn't mind forgetting. I had to wear these god awful corrective shoes that did absolutely no good whatsoever but make me terribly self conscience. Tic Toc made them. I do remember the old coke machine with those wonderful little cokes though...my consolation prize.

There was an RC shop and track across Florida from the broadmoor theater down the little dead end road next to Midas. I spent a lot of time and grass cutting money in that place. He had the biggest got damn tarantula in there

quote:Never realized there was a Buds in Baton Rouge. I discovered them when I was doing PI work in and around post-Katrina New Orleans in late 2005. Their City Park / Delgado store was just about the only fast food place still open, and their #4 with onions was money!
Buds Broiler
Out of pure curiosity, where were they located when they were in Baton Rouge?

quote:That place was awesome for a growing farm boy from deep Livingston Parish. Parents took family there when I graduated kindergarten.
was young but a restaurant called Duff's Smorgesboard or something like that. Food rotated around on large lazy Susan like wheel. Probabaly "OT trashy" establishment, but I remember it.
quote:Was that the place on Florida just east of the Broadmoor Theater? If so, it was the place where a friend of ours was a manager and got shot / paralyzed when the store was robbed.

quote:I only ate at that location a couple of times, but its reincarnation a few years later down on Old Jefferson was a favorite of a girl I dated (circa 1993). Probably ended up eating there with her 50 times over the three years we were dating.
did anybody say the mirror steak house? when it was on airline near foster.
There was a billiard supply store in the middle of Mall City--either on Donmoor or just off it on Renoir. I bought a $50 pool table from a friend back in the late 80's, and I probably spent 10x that much buying cues, chalk, accessories, books, etc. from that place. Hell, the place could still be there for all I know, but I'm not particularly inclined to spend a lot of time hanging around that neighborhood.

Haven't gone through the whole thread but the Twin theater at Bon Marche where I saw Star Wars the first time (cox parking lot now).
Also in Bon Marche in the mid 80''s the clubs 2010/XCES. They would clear the place out at 2010 closing and then reopen XCES all night.
The building now houses BRPD District 4 traffic.

It's a different town for sure now.
Back then finding things to do on Sunday was a challenge. Blue laws were in full effect and the only thing I remember being open was a K&B drugstore as far as retail goes.
Remembered some others;
Curtis Mathes-Broadmoor shopping center-First VCR (a top loader ) my family bought came from there, they used to rent tapes too which spawned movie night with Domino's pizza (was good back then). You could even choose each title in VHS or Betamax
Gooney Golf-Florida blvd past Flannery toward DS. The big black snake waterside stood for decades after the place was torn down. Not sure if the slide was even part of the original place.
Danvers restaurant-Florida across from Richards Ford
Southdowns water slide-O'Neal Lane exit (currently AMC movie theater)--That concrete slide would tear you up if you got off the mat.

Was The Zone the bar on the back of Cortana? I have been trying to think of the name of it.
