I haven't been to Madison, but Athens definitely takes home #1 for me, as far as places I've been, and in a landslide.

The fact that Athens is in the south puts it over the top for me.

I've heard great things about Madison, but Athens is phenomenal.

Craig James went to SMU. How much more do you need to know?

Yeah, no kidding. If he's smart, go for broke. Yale, Princeton, UPenn, Dartmouth, Carnegie Mellon

From everything I've heard, New Haven is a shithole. If he's swinging for these fences, go Harvard.

Harvard and MIT, for sure, and I think all the Ivies, are genuinely committed to needs-blind admission and needs-based financial aid, BTW. Their admissions office doesn't know how much money you have, and if you get in, their financial aid office makes sure you can afford it.

If this guy's aiming for TCU, SMU, LSU, UTK, or Tulane, then I really don't think the Ivy League schools are in the cards for him, especially if he's leaving it up to the OT to decide his fate. And while New Haven may be a shithole, it's still Yale. There are a lot of great schools located in shitty towns/neighborhoods.

Aspirations?
Ability to get into said colleges?

Each of these schools has its own merits. Depending on the field, some are better than others.

If money is not an issue, pick Tulane. At least before Katrina it was one of the top 50 schools in the nation, and probably is still at least top 100.

You're trying to get the best education possible. That should be the idea, not who has the best football team.

Also it's in New Orleans.

This is my first year at LSU and I love it. I'd recommend it, but I could see how someone living in BR would want to see different places.

LSU and SMU are my top 2 choices. SMU if he wants to do lots of coke and bang rich girls in #FratDallas. LSU if he likes tigerland and SEC football.

If serious about business only consider SMU or Tulane. Banks and consulting firms actually recruit from those schools. No other school on your list can say that.

I'm going to apply to SMU law based off the talent I've seen on campus. Maybe I can get the best of both worlds.
