I haven't been to Madison, but Athens definitely takes home #1 for me, as far as places I've been, and in a landslide.

LSU by far will be the cheapest and holds as much weight as you need to get a job in LA. I don't see an SMU, TCU, and UT grad having any sort of leg up on an LSU grad if they're looking to work in LA.

Vandy is another school to consider. It is a better school than any listed, located in a great city, and doesn't have the snobbery of SMU. I've yet to meet a down-to-earth SMU grad. They're all pompous pricks. Also, with Vandy you'll still be able to travel to SEC football games and be an LSU fan.

Why don't we just start naming every expensive college in the US? TCU, SMU, Vandy, Duke, Tulane, Stanford, one of the Claremont colleges, USC, Pepperdine, Santa Clara University, Miami, one of the Ivy Leagues, Rice, W&L, Northwestern, U of Chicago, NYU, Sarah Lawrence, Babson, etc...

Since your friend is a business major and is making his decision primarily based on academics, why wouldn't he go to SMU?

Vandy is harder to get into, more difficult, and lacks the rediculous nembers of hot chicks that he'd find at SMU, TCU, Georgia, or even LSU or ULL. Heck, Tulane might even have a better crop.

If he was going for engineering or medical school, I would advocate for Vandy, but seeing as he wants to go the business route, I don't think Vanderbilt's the best fit for him. Also, if he decides to go to LSU, he should seriously look into the LSU CM program. It's a hybrid business/engineering degree with unrivaled alumni and local industry support, applicability for any kind of business environment (construction, engineering, manufacturing, or otherwise), a course load that's slightly more rigorous than business but far less rigorous than engineering after the first year (aka, you can rush), and the best job prospects of almost any major. Otherwise, go to TCU, Georgia, or SMU.

I'm not even sure if Vanderbilt has an undergraduate business degree, not that one is absolutely necessary for going into business.

LSU

ETA: I'm biased. I grew up in FTW and a lot of my friends went to TCU. Didn't want to attend so I went to LSU.

The one thing about TCU is it's very cliquey. If he's got a good personality, it won't be too much of a problem.

LSU was my second choice behind Ole Miss, so I'd go with that.

SMU is the best of those IMO and the hottest girls by a god damned long shot. If money is no issue, pick SMU

I thought about that, but if that's the case there are closer options than Knoxville. Arkansas, both Mississippi schools, both Alabama schools, and even Georgia are closer, though the latter is of negligible proximity as it pertains to UT.

Not a chance. Vandy brings some serious talent. Not in high quantity, but certainly more so than Tulane.
