A friend checked with Wildlife and Fisheries a few years ago about how many alligator related fatalities there were in Louisiana ... at that time, zero. I guess that statistic has changed.

Katc just said he drowned, initial report of an alligator attack was incorrect.

Uh oh. I know people who go there.

The gators are real small and the larger ones spook easily. Maybe something else happened like a boat hit them and then reported it but said it was a gator?

I know those channels break out of dense areas at sharp angles, and a speeding boat could hit a smaller watercraft.

NEW IBERIA — A 45-year-old man drowned while fishing Thursday night from the bank of a water body, Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal reported.

The sheriff, in a news release issued late Thursday night, said deputies determined that an earlier report from a witness that the man had been dragged underwater by an alligator was not what happened. Although deputies are continuing the investigation, no foul play is expected, Ackal said.

They are just angry that they will never know the feeling of having the best haircut in the world.
