That would seem pretty shitty of someone if they wanted a divorce over something you had no control over. It's one thing if you both agreed to have kids and then one changes their mind. But if something happens to make you "defective" in terms of having kids? I would imagine that is where that whole "for better or worse and in sickness and in health" part of your vows comes into play.

I'm being very pragmatic and I understand that I can't possibly predict how I would react in that specific scenario. I just feel that strongly about having kids and I know my wife feels the same.

Yeah they already tried such tactics in Germany pre WWII

Germany got its ideals about sterilization from the American Eugenics Movement. It's American to the core to promote eugenics and pro-capitalistic social engineering policies.

You think state-forced eugenics is pro-capitalism?

Yep. And in case of infertility...as long as it's not artificial, they can't really fault you for a naturally occurring medical condition.

So the only reason you married and said vows to your wife was to have kids with her?

Yes and also to put her on my insurance. It is high paying for that yourself.

Likewise, I sure hope sending him to Catholic school covers my obligation.

I can't imagine life without my son. I could listen to him say, 'I love you daddy' a million times and never get tired of it.

Technically, some people say that pretty much IS the only reason...to provide a stable and loving environment in which to raise children. It's typically a religious view, like I know that's what the Catholic view is on it.

Not saying that's the be-all-end-all reason, but it does exist.

Well it is a fact that a child is better off in a stable, loving two parent home than a single parent home.

Gotcha...that makes sense. Ours are about the same really. I think I have a lil bit better coverage medically than him with my plan. But really...if anyone has better coverage it needs to be me for maternity coverage anyways.

It will never happen but its a novel idea. I assume you support no drug testing for those on welfare also?

That's a revealing assumption. But the answer to your implied question is no, I don't equate the freedom to use narcotics with the ability to reproduce.
