Never heard anyone talking on their speakerphone in public, but it drives me insane trying to a client who has me on speakerphone. It's even worse when English is not their native language.

I hate seeing someone on the old over-the-ear Bluetooth speaker, it makes them look like they are talking to themselves in public ... and that makes me worry it is someone a little off mentally. Put the damn phone up by your ear so you don't look crazy!

So since it's not all black people and it isn't all white people, then it would be fair to say it is just trashy people in general? No need to add in the race part.

And yeah, I don't understand it. It's like they want everyone to hear what they are talking about. And then there are those who still think they have to yell into the phone.

I have noticed black people tend to hold their phone directly in front of their mouth when speaking like it is a walkie talkie or something. It seems that the majority do this too. What is up with that?

i love the ones who talk so loud you can hear them 100ft away. It's like they think they are communicating with tin cans and string.

I know a dude who holds his cell phone away from his mouth and yells into it. He will talk at a normal level.... phone rings, he picks up (on speaker) and all of a sudden he is like "HELLO! HEEEEY WHAT'S GOING ON" and when the other person goes to answer, he starts saying something else and then he is always like "WHAT? WHAT DID YOU SAY?" and then when the person starts to repeat what they say, it's like he doesn't hear them or something and he is like "HELLO?" and they say something like "I am hear" and he is lie "YEAH OKAY I CAN HEAR YOU"..

Every time he gets a call it goes almost exactly like this. It's like he yells so loud that when the other person goes to talk, he misses what they start saying or something... He is told on a regular basis that doesn't have to raise his voice to talk into his cell phone, but he says he doesn't even notice he does it.

Same with people who walk around with a phone in one hand and a speaker in the other while playing shitty music.

Most of the one's I see doing this are the white

While it is all too common, I see WAY more POC doing this. What I don't understand is people of either color doing this when they are in a car that obviously has bluetooth.

Damn.. I don't know if I ever seen anyone do that. You mean, like a bluetooth speaker instead of headphones?

When I was at LSU and would go study in the library.. This was before iphones, beats headphones, etc people would have their headphones in, turned up all the way and it sounded like they had a small speaker on the table. Then when people would ask them to lower it, they would look all mad like "it's my headphones I could put it as loud as I want".

I'm normally on board with the "mind your own business" outlook, but when someone is using their speakerphone in public instead of using it normally, listening to music loudly on speakers instead using headphones, etc...they're just looking for attention.

Don't cry when it's negative attention that you get from being obnoxious.

And while this tread may or may not be intended as a race thing, the first thing that comes to mind for me is some annoying middle-aged white lady walking around the grocery store yelling to her friend Denise over speakphone.

the new thing i've noticed is the video-based communications

every time i go to Kroger i see some lower class tween on facetime talking loud as frick. why the frick is video necessary when you're at Krogers?

My friend watches YouTube videos on full blast when sitting in a restaurant. Most embarrassing thing ever.

Yep, it's becoming all too common. People even started doing this at the gym on base where I'm stationed. Thankfully they put an end to that pretty quickly.

It's because they're on a reality TV show and the mics need to hear both sides of the conversation.

Everybody's a star and everyone's important.
