you just told the nursing staff that you were going to get some sleep in an empty room on the hall. If a nurse on the unit was in the mood, she would come into your room to “see if you needed anything”.

This is awesome. Note to self, never date a nurse working nights.

If you and her both keep your mouths shut, no worries.

If either of you tells even ONE co-worker, epic disaster.

Done it a couple of times. Dated one for about 9 months. Been married to one for 12 years. There were others where it was just sleeping together. None of them had anything bad happen.

What is it with people hooking up with other coworkers in the service industry ? I never worked at a restaurant establishment so I don’t understand the attraction. Do men and women hook up at hospitals or dental offices ? Idk

You work late hours in a crappy stressful job with booze around, it’s very common to get off and go have drinks.

I doubt it would work in 2023.

Back in the 80’s and 90’s women did not backstab each other as much.

Women had no social media presence and overnight in the hospital was almost like being away at the beach.

None of us knew if any of the nurses were married because they never wore rings. They were all in their late 30’s/early 40’s and very disinhibited. Very flirty and very forward.

Today, the first nurse who bagged a doctor on the floor would be “ratted out” by another nurse who was jealous of her. Back then, the other nurse just waited until a later date and slept with the resident another night. Probably compared notes of all of us.

I’m not having opportunities for sex. I must be too fat or ugly. Got a fat wallet though

Define slept with. Do me a quickie in the stairwell or a bj in the parking garage? If so, nothing happens afterwards. She went her way, I went mine. If you mean an intimate evening together, we’ll I can’t help you.

I hear that once you do it, you'll never go back to not doing it!

Seriously, I always tried not to, but it happened a few times. Nothing happened after with any of them. They never thought I was in love with them and vice versa. It was the 80's after a couple of Christmas parties and we were plastered. Sometimes weed and/or cocaine was involved. If I was really interested in someone I worked with, I'd flirt a little and then wait until they left for another job to ask them out. That's the proper way to handle that.

I have seen it get people fired.

We broke up.

He got promoted above me at work using some of my insights presented as his own. I left that job then. He eventually went on to get an advanced degree in medicine, and later lost his license for sleeping with multiple underage female patients.

ETA: When I learned that he’d blown up his career, that old Edwin Edwards quote about waiting by the river came to mind.
