They had those "dividers" long before the belts were controlled by laser sensors. Besides, the one in your OP isn't a divider made for this belt. Dividers made for grocery check-out belts aren't open on each end to allow the laser to shine through. They are also usually covered with adverts. What you have in your photo is a hollow piece of square tubing.

Get your act together and then come back and post it correctly.

Your version seems more like an old wives' tale created and believed by a single cat lady.

I already had a young cashier at Walmart pick up the divider and started to look for the bar code to scan it. Apparently training at Walmart is lacking. I explained what it was and why it was there.
Would have been interested to see how much those cost.

The most “wrong” thing in that picture is the white nut juice.

The whole point of the divider is to allow the next person to start putting their items on the belt.

Placing it long ways defeats its purpose.
