New Orleans has had a continued increase in people moving into the city over the last 10 years. So much so that they couldn't keep up with building enough apartments to keep up with demand.

Amite is not the Northshore we're talking about.

White flight from Jefferson Parish and the northeast into New Orleans has been happening the past five years.

Moved back to New Orleans two years ago. Don't pay attention to people moving to the North Shore or anywhere else. I'm here to stay. My next move will be to the mortuary.

People aren't moving from NO to the Northshore, they are moving from St. Bernard and JP to the Northshore. If anything, people from the Northshore are moving back into the city...along with all the Cali/NY peeps.

For those of you who live in New Orleans, is this a trend you have noticed?
its something that have been happening for 100 years. Good chance your friends are all hitting a certain age and wanting to start a family and want more house for their money than they can afford in the desireable areas of the city at this stage in their lives.

The city has done nothing but strive since the storm in nearly every area except for crime. The past 3-4 years has seen a slight slowing of the complete kicking arse the city was doing due to Mitch and his policies and pandering, but him being a complete buffoon still can't stop some of te neighborhoods from bouncing back to levels they haven't seen in 80 years.

Most people want yards and for their kids to have other kids to play with when they grow up

The few times I go to the shore, it's against traffic or I wouldn't do it.
If I were to move from Uptown and stay in the metro area I think I'd look at maybe Lafitte.

i don't know. The last few years have seen more growth in inner cities than suburbs for the first time in 100 years. And has gone on for the last 3-4 years as an actual trend. Also saw a stat (don't quote me) but something like people moving out to the suburbs and adding an ungodly amount to their drive to be able to afford the yard they wanted only enjoyed their yard average of like 10-15 minutes a week what a joke. I just find suburbs have changed to a bunch of suburban sprawl now and have let to a bunch of angst in teenagers and house wives.
