That's been going on since the 1970's when Moon Landrieu started running all of the white folks out of New Orleans.

Yep. I wish they'd all leave. New subdivisions are popping up in the flood zone known as LA 1077 north of Goodbee, which was a big lake at the end of March.

Funny, most of the people I know who move out there would love to live in Lake Shore, Lake Vista, Lakeview, Old Metairie or Uptown if they could afford to send their kids to private/Catholic schools AND buy a nice sized house.

yep. there are a few exceptions though.

This has been going on since the 70s, and got an even bigger bump in the aftermath of Katrina. However, it actually seems to me to be slowing down.

As for me... if I was going to deal with the pretentious people and hideous traffic of the northshore, I'd rather just move to another state, where I would deal with the same traffic and people, but make more money and have nicer schools and stuff.

Funny, I've only heard one person tell me something similar in my 16 years of living on the NS and he was recently divorced. I could live in any of those neighborhoods and send my kids to any of the Catholic schools, but I no longer care to tolerate the traffic(it's still lighter over here), the crime nearby, the noise or the crowded neighborhood feel. I enjoy my 1.2 acres and the occasional deer that grazes my front lawn and the relative silence except for the frogs at night. I enjoy the fact that I could leave my car unlocked at night, but don't because old NOLA habits die hard. I appreciate that I haven't been a victim of a crime since I moved over here, whereas in NOLA at least 6 events happened to me from 1981-1999.

I know several who have moved back;. They missed New Orleans life and the commute wasn't worth it to them. But with prices in the city still getting higher, the NS may see another surge.

Yes. They like it till they have to drive to the Southshore over the Causeway with all the commuters from Mandeville, Covington, etc. Main complaint is the dumbasses from the Northshore who keep driving off the bridge.

My family did this in the 70s before it was cool.
