SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — People thinking of relieving themselves against nine buildings in San Francisco may want to think twice, as city crews have just finished painting nine walls with pee repellent paint.

The city plans to paint more buildings with the paint that is so water repellent, it sends urine spraying back at the person relieving their bladder.

The product by a Florida-based chemical cleanup and waste management company called, Ultra-Ever Dry by Ultra Tech, is described as “super-hydrophobic”. They say their product has practical applications; boots and gloves being the prime example.

Buildings in San Francisco are fighting back against public urination.

Hardly a deterrent for a dedicated vandal who would most likely move on to smearing poop on the wall.

Seems like the inside of every urinal I've ever used has been painted with this stuff.

My sister used to work downtown SF just off Market. From what I gather from her stories, human poo in the middle of the sidewalk is a far bigger problem.

So just piss on the wall at an angle instead of head on, got it. Old habits are hard to break, but I'll give it a shot.

I work in downtown SF these days. I've never seen human poo. Never saw it when I lived in NYC, either.

HOWEVER, the smell of PISS is overwhelming when I pass certain buildings. These are obviously the homeless population's preferred pee spots. It is terrible. I've also smelled it pretty strongly in various BART elevators when I was recovering from knee surgery.

I was just in San Francisco, the lack of public restrooms was awful compared to other big cities I've been in.

Earlier this month I was walking by a little park near Fishermans Wharf and a bum was just taking a piss into a bush. It was pretty much wide open and about 10 feet from a busy sidewalk.

Definitely smell it all around town too.
