My mom is a good cook so I just let her cook when I visit. I think she would actually get upset if I tried to cook.

I do honor them and this in the grand scheme of things is small potatoes, but if they ask me to cook then let me cook. If they want to dictate how I do it the they can cook it themselves.

Dad used to burn everything. Convinced my mom that she liked her steak well done. Fork that. They eat everything medium now, and love it!

I said frick it, so sick of this. You don't like what I do, you do it. Anybody deal with this with their folks? Should I just bite the bullet, cook the damned food, and be done with it?

You sound like a horrible son.

I absolutely gave up trying to cook for a couple of years, lol. My mom would literally hop in every time and take over to do it her way no matter what. To this day, I can cook a few things but each time I do, I just hear her in my head telling me to do something differently.

I have the same issue at my house or theirs. Makes me insane. "This is to salty, spicy, or bland. I would add some of this or that. "
I just stopped cooking around them. Nothing was ever good enough. You are not being to sensitive. They are just rude and you can't change them.

You rubbed one out on the chicken? Why? Your Mom told you not to put anything weird on there.

My MIL asks me to cook on their grill for several Family get togethers. She mentions things like, "I don't do it like that" or " make sure it's cooked all the way". They like meat cooked until firm, like tree bark. I cook some like they like it and all the rest like I like it.

Parents? My wife does this pretty much every time I cook or grill, but she still damn well eats it!

Update: I cooked it my way and everyone raved about how incredible it was. Which of course it was. I just wish they'd trust me from the get go.

My dad just sits on the couch with a beer, saying "when's it going to be ready?"
