WE had a power surge a couple days ago and my LG refrigerator just stopped working. NO light, no fan, no nothing. I've called all around and can't find anybody who works on them. It's about 5 yrs. old and up till this point we had no problems.
Anybody know someone that works on these in the B.R. area?

Motherboard is shot.

But, I'd wait for Napoleon's sage advice.

If they are going to include these ridiculous computer motherboards to control every basic appliance these days, why is it so hard to build in some sort of reliable surge protection in them that won't cause the thing to fry and go kaput on any minor power surge it might experience?

reliable surge protection

I bought one made for refrigerators that goes into the outlet behind the refrigerator on the wall.

Surge protectors can be purchased from any retail store. They are not included because that would raise the cost and we all have higher costs.

Did you check your breaker or plug the fridge into a known working outlet or plug a known working device into the fridge receptacle?

Anyone got a link to one that works well behind a fridge?

Also, I always thought that surge protectors were mostly a sham? For something like a lightning strike they don’t do shite? Is that not the case? No experience with actually needing them.

A 10 dollar protector will give you 10 dollars worth of protection. A quality power filter/surge protector is what important.

ESP D5131NT is an example.

Never buy appliances from a Big Box store that doesn’t service what they sell. Buy local, in Baton Rouge I recommend Stanton’s.

If your wiring isn’t grounded, they’re worthless.

Does your refrigerator have a touch screen? It may need to be reset. Press down on two of the edge points simultaneously and hold for 3 seconds. You may have to try different combinations. For example, coukd be the top left and bottom left edges or top left and top right.
