My wife and I looking to add on to our back patio, which right now is pretty much just a blank canvas. Currently we have a small covered patio that's about 8'x16'. We would like to extend that to where we would have about 700 sq ft of outdoor living space. Our budget for this project is $20-25K, which will include the following:

1. Stamped concrete Ashley slate design pattern. Approximately 700 sq ft. Existing 8'x16' slab will be overlayed. I also would like to run some electrical underneath the new slab for the patio cover to stub out some electrical outlets near the support columns for TV installation.

2. An insulated aluminum patio cover that's approximately 16'x 20' with two ceiling fans. Two large 8" Acadian aluminum support columns

3. Kitchen - Approximately 7.5'x 3.5'x 8' L shaped kitchen with bar including built-in appliances; 32" Lion grill, side burner, BGE, cold water sink that drains somewhere in the yard, stone veneer exterior, granite counters, outdoor frig, 2 stainless cabinets and 1 double stainless drawer.

4. Have a small uncovered seating area with fire pit directly off of kitchen area

5. Looking to have Home Depot custom fit a small pergola over the kitchen area to provide some shade. Will also install a solar screen on top of pergola for added sun protection. Also want to install ceiling fan underneath pergola.

I've had quite a few contractors come out and it seems as though the only way I can get this done within my budget is to subcontract each part out myself. I don't have the budget to go all out like Will Cover, GRTiger, and some others plus I don't want to build something that's too expensive for the neighborhood I'm in. Although many have in-ground pools in their backyards, everyone I've seen so far in my neighborhood have insulated patio covers installed to increase the footprint of their patio. We've prepped the area where this is going to go and are ready to start as soon as possible. Any suggestions, ideas, pics, are welcomed and encouraged. Location Mandeville LA

If you take the time to read through the thread you will see, that thread is about GRTiger's dedicated project and his project was located in Houston. I wanted my own thread for my project here in Louisiana.

I feel like this thread is deja vu. Didn't you start this exact thread about a year ago?

. Will also install a solar screen on top of pergola for added sun protection.ll

You already have a covered area. Why not leave the pergola untouched....ain't like you gonna get sun burnt.

I don't know. Feel free to search my history if you like to find out. I might have made a post to say I was thinking about it, but now I'm actually trying to get it done.

Black folks sun burn too. Besides, I'm light skinned, I need protection.

Seems like I should be able to get this done within my budget with an insulated patio cover instead of some of the more costly tying into the roof wood based designs. I don't know...maybe it's just wishful thinking.
