As of 11/1, our company will be losing 75% of our members and layoffs are imminent. This has been in the works for months.

In fact, our Director encouraged us to apply to the new company which will be picking up that same 75% of members, whom will be enrolled by 11/1. It's pretty much a guaranteed hire. Interviews were conducted yesterday and people were allowed to attend with pay. Many didn't even bother to attend or make any moves to apply elsewhere. Heck, even our CEO and CFO left within weeks of each other.

There are a number of people who openly stated that they are "riding it out", with expectations of either:

- Being retained
- Laid off with a severance

I understand how people feel so entitled to some type of compensation, and we're talking 2-3 year tenured employees. They really are expecting some sort of payment on their way out.

I even told my dad about this and he uttered "The fact that your boss is giving y'all a paid day to apply for another job it is a severance in itself".

I said screw it and jumped ship. Accepted a temp-to-perm offer for a position much closer to my house. It pays a little less, but balances out with the shorter commute. Plus the pay will go up (more than the original job) if I become permanent.

At least the 75% had some kind of notice so they could take some proactive action. Anyone (including me) that's been laid off with no notice knows the suckage of this

I wouldn't expect much severance for these folks. A few weeks. Not worth waiting for this pittance.

Is this related to your inability to use "it's" and "its" properly?

wow, that's never been done before, just another form of outsourcing, they use the "new" shell company as a means to cut pay, vacation, benefits, pensions, and abrogate contracts, same people doing the same(or more) work, for less pay and less benefits

This is a possibility? Well frick me I've been sitting here trying to work up the nerve to tell my wife that our annual 3 week trip to Barbados was going to be cancelled because I need the funds to "Improve working conditions" or some bullshite that my spoiled arse employees want. Thanks for the tip internet stranger.
