running my first one next weekend. I know its not a full and kind of a wuss race but im still a little nervous

I run 40-50 miles a week but my questions are

what did the week of the race look like for you with your workouts and diet?

im just scared to scale back because I don't want to gain weight this week.

TIA

You always come off as the biggest pussy when you start threads.

Either with your wife or your diet or your farts... just man up and not give a frick sometimes

If you're running 50 ish miles a week, then you don't need to worry about anything. Have a shorter run two days before the race, take the day before off. That's all.

190-200 is where a man should weigh at 5'10". You're too skinny imo.

Atleast someone else noticed this. He's always complaining about some shite too. Also, if he ran 40-50 miles a week he wouldn't have started this thread telling us how nervous he is.

Um, it's NOT a wuss race.

That said, for the first, HAVE FUN! Seriously, I cried the entire week before my first one and the morning of I was like "Well THAT was dumb" .. it was NOT a big deal to run it BUT it was a huge accomplishment. I've now run 4.

My advice would be to follow whatever plan that you are ... there is a taper in there for a reason. Hydrate the week before and NOT just with water -- coconut water, NUUN, GU Brew, whatever. And don't do anything new on race day ... you've hopefully figured out a nutrition plan and what not.

Seriously, have fun and trust your training!!

(The week before my first I ran 10k on Sunday and then 3 or so on Tuesday and maybe 2 on Thursday and just 10 or 15 minutes on Friday.)

Unless you're super fast and have a chance at placing I'd say your only competition is YOU ... don't sell yourself short. And rest days? Um, gotta have them.

Go get blackout drunk the night before the race, you won't sober up until about mile 10, then do an all out sprint the last 5k.

If you take your shirt off be sure to pin your bib to your shorts so that you will show up on the online race pics.

Find a fast hot chick with a nice round arse and use her to pace yourself.

Smoke a cig or throw in a dip pre-race to ensure you get that dump out of the way.

Get one of those awesome 13.1 stickers for your car.

Lastly, do not wear the race shirt they give you during the actual race. You have to earn it before you can wear it.

40-50 miles a week and you're worried about a half? That doesn't add up at all. At the very most you should be running 4 days per week so that means you run 10-12.5 miles every time. I think if that's the case you should be training for an Ironman.
