I swear everyone has this story

So if it is an extremely widespread and shared phenomena, does it have any credence? Do we explain it all away by coincidence?

If she's cool with it then it's more akin to an imaginary friend.. My oldest had one around that age.. He just called him his alone friend..meaning he only came around when he was alone.. I just let it go because he wasn't frightened and eventually we never heard about him anymore.. He's 8 now and doesn't recall him at all..

In the event you are not making this up, and she is not making it up, be cautious.

Spirits that seem familiar (as in a dead relative) NEVER are

Just be kind and reassure her. Or buy a ghostbusters suit.

Who eats that crap? Horrid stuff.

But it's hard in today's age to NOT have her pick up on something like ghosts from a commercial, or an ad somewhere small that you haven't noticed.

But seeing a ghost in an ad isn't going to give her information she's talking about. It's quite strange.

That's just it. He had never been by there. This road was not on nor normal driving circles. And I highly doubt he'd made any connection since all he knew is my parents were "in heaven". We'd never told him how they got there, much less where it happened.

You are just missing something. Perhaps he was shown a picture of the place. I don't know what caused him to recognize that area but something did and it wasn't a ghost. I love reading ghost stories but why do they generally appear to children who cannot fully explain what they are seeing? Most people also have a soft spot for children because they are vulnerable. Why do ghosts only come out at night when our senses are dulled? Why can they only be recorded on scratchy sounding audio equipment?

based on the amount of movies that lead us to believe kids and animals know the presence of ghosts, it has warped our brains.

IMO the mind sees and hears what it wants, and manifests itself in the mind. I don't believe in all the stuff but i find it very interesting.

I don't doubt for a second that a spirit could let his son know that exact place on the road. But it was t the spirit of your family.

Nasty, unclean spirits can and will observe the living world, and then pass off information as if they were the loved one themselves.

Do not allow it. You have authority over what is yours. That is your house, your child, your life. Give no authority.

But is that life imitating art, or art imitating life?
This is completely out of the blue. I didn't even ask her and she just started talking about it.

Yeah, I suppose. But she picked it up from somewhere.

Didn't tell her the same story you told the OT about the animal in the guys attic did you?

I've often wondered if kids can "see" things that adults can't, God that sounds weird to say.

My son said something would come in his room at night and point at him (he would imitate)...this lasted for about a year then stopped. He never freaked out about it, it was just a creepy fact he lived with from 3-4.

My wife has had a bunch of ghost experiences, so she tends to be sensitive that stuff.

no. We make up silly stories about dragons and princesses and tea parties and castles.

Some of the things she was saying are beyond the ken of pop culture ghosts.

ask her to talk more about it. make a list about what she says. maybe even ask her to drew him/her.

then post it on the OT so we can dissect it.
