I guess Im lucky.. My 3rd grader usually has a math sheet, reading and studying(spelling, etc.) for a total of maybe 30 minutes at most.
My oldest, 7th, usually has some math problems and some study guide type material for about 30-45 min. He then needs to study for any upcoming tests.

My kids were both struggling until we took it upon ourselves to monitor and basically teach our kids the lesson every singe evening. Now (well, school just started back up, but for the last two years) they both do great and we aren't surprised by sudden low grades any longer. I'm thoroughly convinced the teachers are just lazy.
