You linked some nutjob that thinks feeding your kid will develop allergies... FYI.
Look, this new age line of thought about being all sensitive with kids is what is holding them back. I rarely bring my kid to the doctor. He rarely gets sick. Imagine that, his immune system works.
I've had dozens of doctors tell me my kids bmi was too high and he's obese and to put him on a diet. Then he raises his shirt and they see he's got about 7% body fat.
This new age super sensitive mindset is NONSENSE!

Figure out a sleep schedule that works for you.
MrsWafer (no pics) will take care of our little mini Cheez-It at night during the week so my work schedule isn't messed up. I go to work earlier to get home earlier and take care of her in the afternoons. On the weekends she'll wake me up as needed, 1,3,5 am, whatever, and I'll take care of the baby and allow MrsWafer to sleep as much as she can handle.
Works well for us, just find what works well for you.
And it works bc my wife is a fricking trooper, and because she said so.

What are you afraid would happen using rice to supplement formula at night?
Bad news man.
CNN- Arsenic, rice, and your baby's diet
Or if you want a link to the actual study
quote:
Conclusions and Relevance Our findings indicate that intake of rice cereal and other rice-containing foods, such as rice snacks, contribute to infants’ Arsenic exposure and suggest that efforts should be made to reduce Arsenic exposure during this critical phase of development.
This cohort study seeks to determine the types and frequency of rice and rice-containing products consumed by infants in the first year of life and the association with arsenic biomarker concentrations.

He's a pediatrician. What are your credentials?

I'm going to be honest with you here. I think there is a purposeful distortion of the truth for profit going on here.
Did you notice one of the keywords? Inorganic? Billions, tens of billions of children have grown up on a rice diet. If people across the world aren't dying of rice cancer yet, I think we'll be alright.
I wouldn't be surprised if behind the scenes a billionaire paid a public relations company to research the flaws and to distribute these flaws as news for a competing product.
I bet if you had true access your find that whoever funded this research has a vested interest in a competing product. It's virtually guaranteed.

You won't necessarily form an instant bond with your baby. It can take some time. Don't be discouraged, give it a week or two, maybe even a month.

I slept at a holiday inn. Look just because someone has a piece of paper saying they are smart doesn't mean they are right.

Ignore all the "expert moms" that'll tell you everything they think you should know about vaccinations, co-sleeping, not letting your baby cry, car seats, breastfeeding, etc. They all think they are experts because they follow a moms blog or read an article. Listen to your pediatrician, talk with your significant other, and do what y'all think is best for your child.
I think this should be the first commandment in parenting. The only book I've read so far is "What to Expect When You're Expecting", and I did utilize some mom blogs for registry advice and various product reviews. But I agree with you 100%.

Prior research has shown that even low levels of arsenic exposure can impact a baby's neurodevelopment. A 2004 study looked at children in Bangladesh who were exposed to arsenic in drinking water, and it found that they scored significantly lower on intellectual tests. A meta-analysis of studies on the topic found that a 50% increase in arsenic levels in urine would be associated with a 0.4-point decrease in the IQ of children between the ages of 5 and 15.
Congrats on your muscular baby, but maybe you should be more concerned about his IQ than feeding him rice cereal that won't even accomplish what you think it does.

Reading at 250 wpm in second grade thanks for asking. Cries if he can't go to the library.
Now did you read your own quote? They take arsonic present in Bangladesh drinking water hurting their kids and compare it to rice. Talk about a stretch.

If it hasn't been said yet, love them everyday, cause they do grow up too fast (except when they are two!).

Tens of millions thought asbestos, DDT, and cigarettes were fine and healthy as well. How are they faring?
I don't care who pays for the research- if it's good science, you can't argue with that.
Is there a certain portion of the study you disagree with? Or how they compiled their results? Or the conclusions they reached?
It sounds like you don't really have a good reason to doubt these results to be honest here.

It's simple. The truth usually is. If rice was so bad for you, why is it the staple diet of most of the globe?
ETA sounds like the true problem in theory would be rice grown in arsenic contaminated water... That's reasonable
