Insecure? Sure, most teens are insecure. Cowardly? Most bullies will beat the crap out of the bullied, despite what TV tells you.

So? They're still a coward for beating up someone who obviously can't defend themself.

Of course not in all cases, but in many of them, the bullies usually have a pretty bad home life. They get looked down on by society but it's sad to think what many of them have to go home to. Their only release and all they've ever known is anger and they take it out at school.

yes, it's cowardly to beat on smaller/weaker people. Most bullies don't pick on the linebackers of the football team.

I get that, but the "bullies are cowards" leads to the notion that if you fight back they'll back down. Doesn't happen enough to take that course of action.

What if the bullies are the linebackers on the football team?

Bullies are shitty kids

I don't know about it making kids tougher in the long run. But I know it's hurtful to kids short term and can cause depression and anxiety

How is kids bullying any different from sexual harassment or other types of harassment at work? We don't expect adults to just put up with it and get over it. So why would we expect children to? They don't have the maturity level or skills to deal with it

I think each one of my kids would interrupt a bully if they saw bullying taking place. We talk about how to be good to each other and others.
