My brother's kid got sent home for bullying another student in his class. My brother and his wife had their son write an apology letter to the kid he bullied.

Are we getting soft on bullying? When I was in school, you had to just deal with it and I think it made those who got bullied stronger.

It's a natural social phenomenon, and nothing anyone does will ever make it go away. As a parent you can do you best to make sure your kid isn't an a-hole, but then some people are just born assholes.

They're lucky he wasn't expelled.

Yes, but that doesn't make bullying cool.

I would beat my kids arse if I found out he was a little a-hole and thought he was better than anyone else.

Easy there psycho. A century ago kids went to school without shoes on, it made their feet tougher but nobody's advocating getting rid of shoes. Progress is a good thing.

Well since the bullied get expelled from school for standing up to the bullies, I say we have gotten soft everywhere. No real option anymore with zero tolerance, bullying has to be taken care of by the admins.

Bullying is inevitable. It has its upsides but there are waaaaay too many downsides to not address it early.

Honestly when I'm a parent if my kid is accused of bullying or I witness them, I'm going to just tell them no one will like them if they keep acting that way and they'll end up with no friends and everyone thinking they're an a-hole.

That's a load of bullshite. It's a good thing your brother made him do that. The parents who don't address their kid's bullying of others are trash. Some kids are too small to defend themselves and taking it doesn't help shite.

I'm frequently asking my kids about this. I will not tolerate them actively or passively bullying or alienating other kids for petty, superficial reasons. I'm trying to develop adults who can get along with everyone and reap all the benefits that provides.

Sure it did.

We've gotten soft on things, but kids these days are sociopaths that think it acceptable to bully until the kid kills themselves

So you think it is "soft" because your brother made your bully nephew apologize to a kid who he bullied? He probably learned that shite from his Uncle Trom. Way to go a-hole.

Yea it's amazing how people make remarks like that. I've been out of school for a good while and bullying wasn't tolerated back then either. Of course nowadays kids have to deal with bullying via social media also.

Bullying today isn't anything close to what it was +10 years ago. Today, you get bullied at school and constantly harassed online when you are not in school. You can't deal with it the same way you used to back then.

So strong, some of them ends up shooting up their schools.

Check out school shootings. Anyone want to guess one of the motives behind that would be?

Yep, it's no longer contained to one aspect of your life. It bleeds in everywhere with social media.
