Where would you be working? Go for it if you're in Ibadan. Lagos is a complete shithole. Steer clear of the northern part of the country. Boko Haram has made headway into that region and they make ISIS look nice.

Knew someone who went their for work. He flew in and was told not to leave someone would be there from the company to pick him up. He got there and no one was waiting on him so he decided to get a taxi and see the town or he decided to walk around no one is 100% sure.

His body was found a week later minus his head, feet, and hands. He was 24 with a pregnant wife and 2 yr old at home.

Morale of the story stay with the company men, don't leave the compound, and don't screw any local (you gonna get AIDS).

Lot of Nigers there
And while you're there, tell that damn prince to quit sending me emails unless he is actually ready to send me money

Buddy of mine did. Their platform was taken over and they were held hostage for a while.

That distinction goes to Liberia. That place was noticeably worse than the surrounding shitholes. The only western African country worth a shite is Ghana.

If you go, let me know. Got an email from the prince and he is in dire straits. I'll give you a check to give to him. K thx.

Just be sure to avoid Western Union. I tried to send that prince some money, and WU screwed it up again and again. That poor prince made multiple trips to the WU office for nothing. He got mad at me and it wasn't my fault.

Def not anywhere close is what I'd be pulling down. . . As it stands, from everything said on here and some other places, I'm leaning toward no.

Thanks all

If I was in O&G I'd go in a heart beat. You just have to be smart, always aware of your surroundings, and listen to what the company men tell you.

I've worked on a bunch of projects in and around Angola, but never gone over there. From the folks I've spoken with, the compound life doesn't sound too bad, going out on the platforms sound awful.

Did it for about 10 years. Money is great, but I've seen some shite. Last crop of newbs went out to a bar 30 minutes off site to pull some strange. One didn't make it back and two who shared a hooker contracted AIDS.

Just know you can't frick up over there like you can here.

Seeing someone get burned alive from the compound was enough to sour me on compound life.
