Not sure how the OT feels about posting these, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

My old fraternity brother has cancer. He's only 24 years old. He wasn't a dirt bag like the rest of us, he was actually a good kid with a good head on his shoulders. He's had to drop out of medical school because of his treatment/travel schedule for a new medical trial.

GoFundMe

Please feel free to share.

Thanks,

Are you saying he doesn't have insurance?

It's not difficult to imagine a healthy 24 year old having a high deductible health insurance plan to cover the bare minimum. Even once he's covered the deductible insurance doesn't pay for everything or in Some cases anything.

Funding is for various expenses along the way. He does have medical insurance, but because of his schedule/condition, he's unable to work. His travel will be reimbursed, but he's still got everyday expenses.

Edit: I'm ASSUMING he has insurance. Don't have any details regarding the structure of the ins plan, but as others have said, cancer is still mighty expensive even with insurance.

Prayer just said for you, him and his family.
Happened to me last year with a fraternity brother. Similar story sounds like.
Was very hard to see him transition from this life to the next.

Sorry to hear this. I had a 28 year old friend pass away a few years ago due to colon cancer. I wish the best to your friend.

hardly think a 24 yr old frat guy in med school doesn't have some money in the family. All I am saying is his parents probably still carry him on their insurance and I would bet his family is loaded...father is probably a dr.

Most of the doctors I know coming out of med school are $100000++ in debt when they get out.

Wow. Some things you should keep to yourself.. Just don't donate if you don't want to.

That's awful, way too young for cancer.
