So my attorney M Sean Reid in Lafayette just skipped town, closing down his practice without telling anyone and stealing all his clients money. Planning on filing a complaint with the bar association and a police report today, is there anything else I should be doing right now? Luckily the retainer I had with him wasn't much but I'm sure he stole a lot more from his other clients.

The story I'm hearing is that he got into some kind of trouble and is hiding out in Utah. What a POS. Any ideas how I could find out who his other clients are that were affected, would probably be better to go after him as one. I understand I'll likely never get my money back because he probably doesn't have any but don't want him to get away with this either.

Went to his office this morning and it was completely cleaned out and had a phone number for a process server on the door. She said she has been getting tons of calls about him.

This is depressingly common.

1. File complaints with the Louisiana State Bar and with the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board - reach out Chuck Plattsmeir and Cheri Grodsky separately.
2. File police report.
3. Keep all documents e-mails and texts, even if you think they're not important.
4. If you know any other of his clients, tell them to follow 1-3.

Unless it's a news source I thought you couldn't post something like that and give the person's name.

Sound like he had a daughter too that he just left behind. I'll never understand how people could do things like this.

STFU. No lawyer on this board will support the kind of activity in the OP. Those are the ones that give the rest of us a bad name.

Wow. .

A lot of solos/small firm guys have such an issue with time management/work ethic. I know it sounds crazy, but I think this is usually the root cause of a lot of problems with endings like this.
