I found a 5lb can of ON: Gold Standard in my pantry that I bought a good while back that I forgot about, but never finished the whole container. It has a good amount left.

It expired back in 6/2015.

Does this stuff really go bad after a while? I opened the container and it looks and smells fine.

If it does not smell rancid, I would use it.

Should be fine. Mix up some and taste. I had a tub that I forgot about one time but it wasn't sealed right because I cracked the kid from all the #Gainz. It was all clumped together and wouldn't mix right so I threw it out the window at a stray cat.

In package labeling "expiration" is very misleading. As there's really no such thing as an expiration date. The date printed is really what the manufacturer recommends as a "best if consumed by date". As whey protein powder has almost no moisture if it's been kept dry there shouldn't be any microbial growth in it. May not taste the best though.
