Not trying to alarm you but that is exactly where my knot was located and it was Diffuse Large B cell Lymphoma. It could also be just a swollen lymph node due to infection or even a benign mass.

either swollen lymph node or submandibular gland
if it's tender that's generally a good sign.
like others have suggested go see a doc and get some abx.
if it doesn't get better you'll need a ct and possible fna.

Can someone tell me if you can bruise a lymph node 
I was elbowed in that area Monday and then on Tuesday I felt a knot there..

Not a doctor.
Does it feel like your tongue has a cut on it but
you can't see a cut, and when you eat does it swell
bigger?
I had Salivary Gland Stones about two months. Go look in a mirror at the inside of your mouth under your tongue and push up on lump and see
if see a white stone looking deposit trying to come out of your Salivary Gland opening.
If so keep pushing it will feel like a shard of glass but it should push through keep pushing after it comes through to get all the excess saliva from blockage out, if that was it swelling will go down.
Eat more green leafy vegs. to help maintain
from getting stones.

After what happened to Josey, I'd definitely get it checked out. shite gets real, really fast
IIRC time line was that he posted a pic of his swollen tongue, and everyone basically said walk it off. Within a week, he found out the bad news (cancer), and within a couple of months, it was over
4LSU knows the specifics, but I think that's generally how it went down. I'd go to the doc and get it tested
