OT Appliance Experts: I have a question

I bought a Whirlpool Fridge recently after my previous one decided it did not want to work.
Right now it is making an audible humming sound, it is rather loud which is the problem. I do not hear the noise when the door is open or when you press against the door/freezer.
I figure it is the compressor but not sure since it is brand new. (less than a week old)
The fridge never sat on the side or was laid down, it sat for 24 hours being being plugged in, and another 24 hours before food was placed inside.
Did I get a lemon or will this eventually correct itself, or even is this normal?

Mine did this and I tweaked the level adjustments to stop it.

Where did you get it from? I know Lowes has 30 days you can return it. I would switch it out.

Lowe's, that is why I am curious if this is normal or not. I know the fridge should hum but this is audible from 10ft away

Its shitty how bad the quality of appliances are being made these days...
mother boards go bad way to easy and the cheap plastic moveable parts can't handle any normal use of a household of more than 3.

So adjusted the levers by the rollers and it is still making the humming.

Prolly normal ice maker noises for not being 100% level.

1, I would not count on it "self-correcting'
2. Doubt it is compressor or icemaker if it is not making noise when door opened or pushed on and also doubt it is a leveling issue..probably dropped prior to delivery
3. If it is noticeably loud and bothers you, switch it out...life to short to settle,..it will be an ongoing "aggravation'

My Kitchen Aid over 10 years old has always sounded like it was possessed. And, the one I have now was swapped out with one that was one year old (water dispenser issues). Don' know what to tell you, but in my case, noise didn't indicate a bad product.

I had a similar issue...when I would apply a slight pressure to any side or to the door, the vibration would stop...when I took my hand off the fridge, the vibration came back.
The compressor was just slightly leaning on the frame of the fridge, thus amplifying the vibration. The service tech came out to adjust and it stopped for a day.
I called again and they put a thin foam sheet between the compressor and the frame and this seems to have done the trick.
Good luck with it...it drove me bat shite crazy for about 3 weeks trying to stop it myself. I knew what the problem was, but since I just bought the thing, I wasn't about to perform surgery on it myself.

Slightly off topic. How important is it to buy from an appliance stor like stantons in Baton vs a big box store like Home Depot. Is $400 savings on a fridge, dishwasher and stove worth dealing with Home Depot service if something breaks?

Home depot subs out service.
I think you should always go with the best price you can get and not worry about the other factors.
A $400 savings on any appliance is huge.
If something breaks under warranty you deal directly with the manufacturer. If something breaks out of warranty then you deal with a repair company direct.

sounds almost like a fan is hitting a shroud, and the fan turns off when the door opens (common on many models).
