I have worn out the soles on my Ahnu Mendocino hiking boots, and I thought I would reach out to the OT to see what I should consider as replacement.

I pretty much wear the boots daily, and prefer waterproof with rubber soles.

For reference...here is the boot that I have been wearing.

I bought the Vivobarefoot Tracker because I like the minimalism and low profile

I like Keen, but I tend to buy Merrell because they fit my foot a lot better.

I got the goretex mid moabs. More of a day hiker though.

I always hike in sneakers or croc type shoes. I look like a weirdo tho. The last long hike I did on the AT trail, I was in boat shoes.

Not to mention they're magic (they make you invisible).

I've got away from the big bulky boots. The more and more I read, it hardly if at all protects the ankles and screw all that additional weight. I have some waterproof Merrell hiking shoes.

If you are trying to get one similar to what you've been wearing, the Merrell Moab Ventilator Mid Waterproof. If you want something lighter, check out the Merrell Moab Ventilator.

I have both of these and use them for different applications. I've had the Ventilators for 4 years and they've been all over the Grand Canyon, Zion, Sedona, and used frequently as daily casual wear. I used the Mid's on a trip to the mountains where I was sure to encounter some wet crossings and snow/slush. Both are great choices.

I'm on my second pair of Merrell's in 10ish years. Great shoes that are comfortable, durable, goretex lined, and vibram soles. I'll always have Merrells on my feet when I'm hiking. They're good for walking around town when the ground is snowcovered, or to summit 14ers in September.

I just wore out a pair of Vasque Breeze boots. I had them for about 10 years and wore them all the time. They are water proof and we're incredibly comfortable.

Timberland waterproof hiking boots for me. Very comfortable and hold up well for yard work, mud, water, and barn chores.

I'll 2nd the Vasque recommendation. I have the leather gore-tex model. Waterproof in shitty, snowy, or wet weather.
