Once again, you better leave early if you're planning to go to the Gulf Coast...

If you're anywhere west of Slidell and are heading to anywhere along to coast, you better leave early Friday!

Lane closures set to happen again all weekend on I-10 between Slidell and the Mississippi state line.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ANYONE GOING THRU THIS AREA AT ANY TIME THIS WEEKEND CHECK GOOGLE MAPS (AND TURN THE TRAFFIC OPTION ON). ALSO USE THE WAZE APP IF YOU HAVE IT!

While an eastbound lane will be closed from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, all lanes will be open daily from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

All Eastbound lanes will be open during the day but one lane will be closed at night. So no, leaving late will be worse.

And actually, it looks like GETTING BACK INTO LOUISIANA will be the bigger issue...

Beginning Friday (July 17) at 6 p.m., a lane on westbound I-10 from the West Pearl River bridge near the Louisiana welcome center to just north of Gause Boulevard will be closed for construction. A lane will remain closed until 2 p.m. Monday (July 20).

I'll check Google maps when I leave to see how bad it is at that time.

That's one of the given alternate routes on the map DOTD has provided.

However, getting through Slidell on 190 just to get to 90 is still a bitch due to all the heavy traffic being diverted that way.

So, what does the OT think of the "proposed alternate routes" offered by DOTD?

I'm leery of any advice that comes from our smart government.

Whether they're suggested from the govt or your backyard neighbor, they're still the best optional routes available...

Get out of here with your political bullshite.

Most OT Ballers will just take their jet or helicopter if closer to their destination.

If you're coming from anywhere on the south shore, yes. This is definitely the way to go!
