You need proof that EWE stole from the citizrns of La.? Just ask any oil & gas landman working back in the 60'-70's. He would insist on having the royalty lease in French & English, French for his cajun clients who spoke & understood French a lot better. The English lease went to the oil company & was the one filed in the parish courthouse. What was to be paid out to the landowner in the royalty checks was completely different in the French lease. Out of which EWE took his fee/cut. As he was one of the very few French speaking attys back in those days, especially in the oil business, he made a fortune off the landowners/citizens of the State. He was a crook & stole equally from any & all but he hurt the citizens the most of all as they could least afford it.

No implications Just a fun piece of fact.

Around 1970-72 when EWE was a congressman, he was screwing around with a high school girl in Crowley, and the girls dad found out about it. The dad owned a car dealership and had a women that worked for him arrange a meet with EWE at a motel in Jennings, not an unusual occurrence for Edwards. Instead of the women three mechanics from the car dealership were waiting for Edwards and almost beat him to death. He was taken to a hospital in Beaumont and admitted under an assumed name where he stayed until he recovered. One of my closest friend's dad was one of the mechanics.
That's awesome if true

It's absolutely unbelievable that people actually defend that POS EWE. One thing that says it all was when he was actually allowed to formally address the state legislature in the state chamber and they actually gave him a round of applause. I was so damn disgusted and embarrassed for my state. It's why people laugh at Louisiana. We don't treat our corrupt politicians like we're taking out the trash.
frick him. I can't wait for him to start his dirt nap.

You are a fricking moron.
For him to literally have his fingers in the state pie, there would have to be an actual state pie.
To say nothing of "nickles."

Here's another example. An out of state manufacturer, who sold its high-value products in Louisiana, charged $2,000 more per unit in LA than it charged for the same product in other states. Why? Edwin was paid $2,000 per unit or else that company could not do business in LA. That's all I gotta say bout that, don't want to end up like Clyde Vidrine.

not glorifying or condoning anything he did, but I was around him a lot during his hay days, and he is one charismatic, smart, son of a bitch, I know he banged at least half of the LSU law students while I was at LSU, and he was brazen as hell about it
Back in '71 when he first ran for governor, he keep a room open at a motel on Evangeline Thruway in Lafayette that he and John Breaux used exclusively to bang USL coeds as they passed through town...which was often.
A great book on his exploits during this time is Just Taking Orders by Clyde Vidrine. It is an amazing read!

There used to be an awesome old pic of EWE playing poker in some ridiculous outfit. He had a pile of chips in front of him and was showing some big winning hand.
Anyone remember that pic?

Was that right after he released the book?
I assume the law said it was a "robbery" or a " random crime."
