1959 Bel Aire vs 2009 Malibu

Yep, its a few years old but still relevant. Would you have guessed that the land shark would crumple that badly?

This isn't news. The old cars were steel death traps.

I have seen this before.
I was told the '59 bel aire driver dies, nearly decapitated, where they 09 Malibu driver hurts his knee or foot.

New car without a doubt. Old cars were tanks, but a lot of people died in tanks.

A friend of mine was in a head to head collision with a mid 90s pick up in his mid 90s Taurus and both were running around 60 mph, he broke his ankle and that was it. The truck did fine except a kid in the passenger seat without a seat belt went through the windshield.

Yes, I would have, even before the vid.

I've wrecked old cars and I've wrecked new cars.

The difference is amazing and it is the single most important reason people are surviving car wrecks.

This. People who think that surrounding yourself with old Detroit steel will keep you safe are delusional.

Volvo has a goal for no one to die in their cars by 2020. It's crazy how much better cars are noe

Difference is that in a 10mph crash, the Malibu will look the same as that fast crash

Seriously. Most crashes happen at lower speeds.
