Last Sunday I had a personal SHTF moment when out of nowhere I had a very unusual "floater" appear in the periphery of my right eye.
I was in a near state of panic thinking I was about to stroke out. I kept checking my face in the mirror for signs of stroke as this obstruction appeared to move around and grow in my field of vision:

After about ten minutes or so of this the image and disorientation subsided and everything returned to normal. I didn't experience other symptoms after that.
Called my doctor and apparently what I was describing was an ocular migraine. Have any of you baws experienced this before or know anyone who has this condition of seeing "aruas" before a migraine? shite is freaky.

Visual disturbance is the most common indicator of an impending migraine. You are fine.

My kid gets these. It seems to occur when there is lack of sleep/fatigue.

Sometimes it can make you vomit. The only thing that makes it go away is sleep.

Yes, I get migraines once or twice a year and they're always preceded by auras in my vision. They suck.

I get these from time to time. They seem to happen in clusters. Will have a bunch over a couple of weeks and then nothing for 6 to 9 months.

I never have any pain or nausea (knock wood) and they seem to come on a lot when I am driving.

I had an ocular migraine once and had a similar freak out. I'm just glad it never happened again. It's really damn scary.

I get these about twice a year. They started in my late 20s. They usually last about 30 minutes and are followed by a headache and fatigue.

They can be quite unsettling.

Migraine with aura.

Happened to me twice, both times things seemed distant, tunnel vision, clammy, cold sweat. Doctors said it was a migraine with aura both times, not fun times.

Happens to me all the time. When I was in 9th grade, I would have to be checked out from school almost weekly for them. Some of the worst pain I've ever been in.

Yeah worst part for me was I was at home alone so couldn't talk to anyone to settle my nerves or make sure I was okay.

I get the aura but not the follow up migraine headache that some people get. I get them about once a year....worst was while driving and had to pull over until it subsided.

FeauxPaw, see your ophthalmologist or retina specialist for 100% verification. I had retinal tear. Lasered and fine. But I see specialist every 6 months.

You do not want a retinal detachment. Not trying to scare any one, but precautionary measures are better than blindness.

Yes my doctor told me ocular migraine was a diagnosis of exclusion. Going to see the ophthalmologist this afternoon.

I have them once in a while. Mine look exactly like the second picture. They last a few minutes to a couple of hours. No pain and really just an annoyance. Don't know what if anything triggers them. They seem to come on randomly.

This. Get your eyes checked. The last one I had, I saw what looked like a multicolored lightning bolt cross the center of my eyes and then blurred vision momentarily.

After some research, I had my eyes checked a few days later and my eyes had changed. My contacts were not strong enough and basically months of not noticing that fact was the cause of the migraines.
