25 missing might mean that 25 people escaped and went home and are safe.

Newest update is that they've found 30 bodies with 80% of the building not yet searched. Tragic.

There is some shady shite going down with this place; People living there paying rent, owner says no one lives there. People living there are told to lie to inspectors, hide clothes, bedding and tell them it's only an artist space.

It's going to get interesting.

Yeah I'm really confused as to what this "building" is. Some say it's a warehouse converted to artist lofts, some say it was a late night dance party,

Back in the 90's we used to go to raves in abandoned parking garages and warehouses. Thats kinda what tbis sounds like.

There are a bunch of places in that area where "artist" live together. Some are actual spaces where went is paid and can be pretty nice. Others are basically flop houses.

Someone on FB posted this LINK for the Oakland Ghost Ship, the warehouse where the fire took place. I think I made out the "pallet" stairs in one of the pics, although I can't really tell where they lead to.

One article I read quoted someone who previously lived there saying it was like a maze, so I'm sure if the lights went out, it would be difficult to find the exit. Electricity was supposedly borrowed/stolen from neighbors too.

The warehouse had been carved into artist studios and was an illegal home for a rotating cast of a dozen or more people, according to former denizens who said it was a cluttered death trap with few exits, piles of wood and a mess of snaking electric cords.

quote:

"If you were going there for a party, you wouldn't be aware of the maze that you have to go through to get out," said Danielle Boudreaux, a former friend of the couple who ran the warehouse.

As many as 100 people were there for a party Friday night when the fire broke out just before midnight. Fire officials were still investigating the cause of the blaze, but they said clutter fueled the flames, there were no sprinklers inside and few exits to escape.

Saw on the news it was a big warehouse, people put up false walls and made theme rooms and living quarters out of it. One dude interviewed said the fire started in a back corner, he and his best friend were escaping, they got separated, he went one way, his friend went another and vanished

Terrible
