Not an Onion article.

quote:

Nevada state officials declared a state of emergency after stores that sell recreational marijuana reported that their supply is running out just less than two weeks after the drug went on sale legally.

I thought the point was that the issue would cause retailers to suffer due to no inventory to sell, but based on that article and the proposed fix, it seems like they are focused on the customer not being able to get the product.

That's awesome, but confusing.

In other news in Nevada...Taco Bell has hit record sales following the legalization of marijuana. Grocery stores report record sales in the snack food aisles. Gas stations can't keep snack shelves full.

This "state of emergency" the governor has declared will allow the state to by-pass part of the law that said that liquor distributors would have first dibs on recreational distribution. Since none of the liquor distributors are set up yet, this will allow other parties, such as those who already supply medical marijuana, to act as distributors until the liquor distributors are in compliance for marijuana distribution. Bottom line is, NVGOV doesn't really care if the liquor distributors get first dibs. They just want to cash in NOW. And seeing as CA legalization doesn't go into effect until 1/1/18, its a smart move to try to undercut them.
