I just got one of these, do I just pay the fine or do I take it to court. I think if i push a minor traffic ticket all the way to court it might get dropped. Thoughts?

Is it worth your time?

Be a punk and the prosecutor can drag it out.

I found out if you pay a lawyer $100-150 per ticket, the ticket gets thrown out most of the time.

I never used to retain a lawyer for traffic offenses, now I do for everything.

Funny how that works huh?
(FTR I agree with this)

Ive often wondered though if attorneys just go ask politely that it be reduced and pay a half price fee and keep half of what you pay them for what is literally a 2 min stop and conversation at sosomewhere they were already going to be for other more lucrative cases.

I don't get how they do it either. My gf just had gotten a 55 in a 35 coming off of Causeway.
The lawyer charged her $100 and the ticket was thrown out. 20 over is usually close to $375 when you pay it and court costs.

I'll always get a lawyer from now on.

I've got no problem with that. He has the relationship and the knowledge. For $150 it stays off my record. Win/win.

Seems fair.

I was trying to say that the da may very well do the same thing if its minor enough if I were to go inquire about it personally, and reduce it to a seat belt ticket or something like that. If you pay an attorney $100 and they just get it reduced and pay the fine for you they are still up $75 and didnt have to go thru any extra work, except stopping by for 2 minutes and asking.

But this was ultimately the point, except that there isn't necessarily any technical knowledge involved in lots of cases

Yes, it might. But most of those tickets cost less than what I lose for spending a day with the trash in the courthouse.

Huh?

I responded honestly with all of my posts.

You don't think you're being a little sensitive?

ETA: Just re-read my posts. I wasn't a smart aleck at all. Lighten up.
