After a horrendous start in 2017, the murder rate, although still very high, is on its way down in the Big Easy. Compared to mid October 2016, the 2017 numbers are down 8%. If the expected downtick continues at the same pace as it has for the last 10.5 months, this could put NOLA at its second lowest number in more than a three decades, not including the Katrina year.

WHich may ensure that the numbers will be the 2nd lowest in more than three decades, sans Katrina year

They've killed each other off. It's a cycle. Check the history. The next batch are in middle school. Give it a few years.

I've been noticing the big dip in the last three months.
Nothing out there to help explain it. Not sure it's nothing more than luck, but I site hope it stays on the same trajectory.

In Nola, it's summer when you need to worry. But really, that's everywhere. Murder rates are always highest during summer.

And this is great fricking news
