I've been a gymnastics coach for 30 years, and Biles absolutely choked. She was losing and looking for a way out. When she started wearing the GOAT icon on her leotard, I knew she was a head case.

I've rarely had any of my athletes have emotional problems before a meet, and if they did, they immediately withdrew from the meet, and we used a reserve. Never had an athlete quit during an event because of mental problems. Gymnasts, by and large, are very narcissistic (they kind of have to be), but Biles started reading her own press and believed that she was bigger than the sport.

This is my favorite part. Y’all think he was joking bc when he got backlash he said he was. He was being an arse and he is an arse. And I love how he was treated after.

That guy 100% thinks all things he said are true.

I don’t know a thing about this guy. If he was being serious, then not only is he actually an arse but he’s also an idiot who clearly doesn’t read…anything. His has girl been world famous forever and accomplished more by the time she was 21 than he’ll ever accomplish in the league.

And he was being serious when he said he had never heard of her? If you say so. Seems improbable but still doesn’t change the fact that this is all a situation of Bile’s own making. Keep your private life private if you need to cry every time someone critiques it.

I kinda miss when this first happened. Endlessly entertaining and I’m happy to relive it today.

The hate on Simon Biles is odd. She's one of the greatest US Olympians of all time and yet people hate her.

She absolutely did the right thing backing out of the Olympics because she was having issues with her vault that would have carried over into other events and hurt the team. Twisties in gymnastics is a real thing, similar to yips in golf.

She was already the best US gymnast of all time prior to backing out and is competing again even though she didn't have to.

If you consider the life of a top-flite gymnast, it would make sense that they’re all crazy as hell. You start out training at 3 or 4, have overbearing parents and coaches who fat shame you and control every aspect of your life. You don’t go to a normal school usually and grow up with just an inner core of mean girl “friends”who you are simultaneously at war with over pecking order literally every single day. You have no free time, no prom, no period and Larry Nassar is constantly trying to finger bang you. Your very future ultimately depends on how you perform in a two minute routine in front of millions of people. Yeah, I’d say they’re all nuts.

Joe Rogan. If you're famous dont read the comments. She obviously dove right into the comments and they got into her feels.

Very pussy. Essentially he's saying don't engage in conversation. Why post your thoughts online then?

She took up an Olympic spot someone who wanted to compete could have used.

She didnt have "mental health issues" she had a bad performance and was afraid to compete.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnndddddddddddddddddddd

The women just got $100MM settlement from the United States government.

No need to go to the olympics again.

Nothing smooths rape/molestation over better than a smooth 100 million.

If someone chooses to get on social media, then deal with the consequences. You can always turn the damn thing off.

My daughter is a gymnast. Zero respect for Simone. Suni Lee fan.

Huh? You can believe he's a dolt...that's fine. But he literally engages in 10-15 hours of conversation a week for consumption. He's one of few personalities that is definitely not scared of engaging opposing views.

I think the point of not reading comments is to not pay attention to and feed the trolls.

You know Coach you are probably right.

When athletes begin to believe they are bigger than the sport look out for that giant thud when said athlete comes into contact with reality.

They usually fall pretty hard don't ever recover.

I can't help but think of all the little girls who looked up to her and the disappointment they must feel when their role model failed them.

Waiting to see if betting sites going to have an over under on how many events Biles competes in in 24 Olympics before she develops another case of the twisties?

She didn't have the issues going in. She earned her Olympic spot.

Yes the mental health issue was probably just a made up excuse, but it doesn't change the fact that her not competing was a good call on her part.

She was/is the best gymnast in the world, and during warmups developed a glitch where she couldn't perform at her best. The US had far and away the best team and had the depth. As far as what was best for the team, it was the right call. Coming up with a mental health excuse after was a bad call.
