No-Limit Records influence in Baton Rouge: A look back

Who all remembers No Limit Records artists in Baton Rouge? I know a lot of them used to eat at Steam Room Grill (now it's Melting Pot) and several lived in The Gates off Corporate. Any other stories from sightings back in the day?

My mom used to handle all of No Limit Records bank accounts.
I used to see Silkk the Shocker around BR all the time.

I always heard their office building had a big gold tank in front but I never saw it. Mystikal came in to the restaurant I worked at a few times. He was pretty quiet. I heard Silk the Shocker came in once when I wasn't there.

My late uncle told me a story about Master P going to Gerry Lane to buy a bunch of Camaro's. He lived in CCLA, which require a decal on your vehicle for entry, and you had to own the car to get the decal. So, in order for his friends/family to be able to come & go as they please, Percy decided to just buy them all cars. He went to the dealership, and asked the sales guy how much one of the Camaro's cost. The guy told him they were $25k, and Percy said, "Ok, I'll take 10 of them", and writes a check. Keep in mind, this was before most people knew who Master P was. The salesman took the check & called the bank, thinking that it was drug money or something. When he gives them the name on the check, the banker immediately responds that yeah, the check would clear, easily.

Do these people do anything for the community other than bring it down by promoting thuggery and wannabe thugs?
Do they actually put money or economy into the city they're from or just spend all their money on diamond teeth and watches?

P did plenty and C-Murder wasn't a wannabe.

Boosie had millions of dollars worth of jewelry and shite. When he went to jail, his house was foreclosed and his cars repo and his family was doing fundraisers for his kids.......
He gets out of jail, the first thing he does is go clothes shopping for himself.

His original music studio which was never finished and he left a lot of people holding the bag when he split town, is not the Celtic Studios. Stage 1 is the original building.
He still owns a house in CCLA and Santa Maria and a couple in the neighborhood across from the Perkins Road YMCA. Can't remember the name of it.

I worked at Benny's in the No Limit heyday and talked to most of the guys on occasion.
I had (might still have) some signed CDs somewhere.
I know I sold the C-Murder ones on eBay for about $100 each after he got sentenced to life.

What exactly did 'P' do?
...and they are all wannabes. They never get arrested until after they create their image and are trying to maintain some farce.

Used to see Mystical and Silk at Nightlife and Ringside back in the day.
Saw Juvenile at the Waffle House by the Causeway in Mandeville two nights in a row. My drunk arse told him if you gonna follow us around at least you can buy me a sammich. He laughed and said OK.

This is urban legend fwiw. I've heard it heard more times than I can count. The cars and dealership always changes. I even had a duplesis cadillac salesmen tell me he made the deal with Master P. Total bullshite. All of it.
I can add one fact. Master P, at least during his BR days, wouldn't pay for anything unless you sued him for it.
