We always had cabbage cooked down with pig tails. That was some good stuff, now I just cool down the cabbage with ham since I think my wife would puke if I brought pig tails into the house.

Paula deans black eye pea recipe is the shite....ate at her place in pigeon forge day after thanks giving, I usually don't eat peas but they were best I've ever eatten

Cabbage on NYD is specific to LA right? I'd never heard of it prior to this site/knowing LA people generally.

It's a southern thing. Black eyed peas, cabbage, greens (pot likker), Hoppin' Jon, hog's jowl and cornbread. You'll find some variation across the south.
