I embarked on this venture a few months back and chose a gunite pool. For us, there was no question given the layout of the pool design.

The best pool I saw lately:
Man up and tell her "No!".

Gunite.
Heated.
Automated.
26K gallons.
Tanning ledge.
Auto fill .
Screw connections on all equipment.
Gas line run to heater.
Don't hire jack legs.
Don't put up with shoddy workmanship.
Good luck-you're gonna need it.

And Stout Is correct.

If in the budget would recommend a spa. We use it fairly often, waterfall is also a nice touch.

I was talking to a guy that installs in ground pools in the Chicagoland area. Says he fills in as many pools as he puts in. Such a waste once the novelty wears off.
