NOPD is little better than the criminal element in the city. Always been that way.

My Father who retired from St.Louis PD, listens to the scanner every night. He got so used to it, that i think it's a soothing listen. Makes him feel comfortable, puts him at ease.

He's usually listening to STL, but also does Chicago, and/or any city where shite is going down.

I can imagine 33 1/2 years of listening to the polics radio for calls, and then no radio, makes you miss it.

A white female got the shite beat out of her at Rawhide in the Quarter. I didn't realize that women were allowed in that establishment--well I guess we now know they aren't allowed there.

Listening to these people on the scanner scares the hell out of me. It's every man for themselves out there. The police will get around to whatever is going on after roll call in 10-15 minutes....

shite. No wonder so many shootings are unsolved

If only they had money to hire enough officers and government leadership to hire strong leaders.

I think everyone is shorthanded

I know locally, St.Louis PD is probably 600-900 cops short than what they need. And now, once they get their training, they are bolting to Burbs for more cash.

Worst part, is that the big cities need them the most, yet they want to pay the least.

We're too busy throwing free festivals and events for people in the burbs to come in and enjoy.

main ones you're going to be listening for are...

34S- shooting (victim still alive)
34C- cutting (aka a stabbing... victim still alive)

that'll let you know something's going on... if they think it's potentially fatal then you'll hear them request (or raise) homicide

30S/C means the victim has expired and it's a murder
