However, New Orleans and the French Quarter have enough appeal to still attract tourists for a visit.

That is dwindling rapidly

to be fair some of those murderers were probably killed for retribution.

I look at the positives...they are killing each other

Same reason I love abortion. Let the trash kill themselves. Saves me some money down the road.

75% seems high, but I really don't think 50%+ is that uncommon pretty much everywhere. I tried to research this one time several years back and it was really hard to find any data on murder solve rates. I'm sure you can do what you just did and compare arrests/convictions to murders, but it didn't look like any police departments were bragging about their solve rates like DAs brag about their conviction rates.

Crime pays because it's likely you can get away with it and the only realistic solution is Big Brother.

Seriously what a f'ing joke. That motha foka is out grandstanding by taking down historical monuments, the liberal press is sucking him off, and the city burns. These groups supporting the statue removal should be as outraged by the fact that people are getting killed wholesale and the city government stands by and watches. Allocate resources and demand results. Inspect key indicators to make sure progress is being made instead of writing op ed pieces to pat yourself on the back

With the Robert E. Lee statue coming down, the number of murders will go down to 0. What a thoughtful mayor Landrieu is, right guys? We're so lucky to have such a great leader.

One parish over... Arrest usually made the next day, with convictions following....

too many good law-abiding citizens left the city because of the statutes, now that they are down, these people will return and things will get better

But Mitch says the Mexicans are the best crime fighters in NOLA.

They have one of the lowest success rates in the country, if Scruffy isn't mistaken.

Once again, NOLA is a shithole.

Blame the citizens and I use that term lightly. They have to be willing to turn their thugs in to solve murders

Agreed, I immediately thought the same thing. The 25% that were solved were low-hanging fruit (domestic, bourbon street on camera, etc). Citizens are scared I understand but the cycle will continue as long as they allow it to. Wasn't there a plan to put cameras in the neighborhoods but it was blocked as an invasion of privacy or profiling?
