Has anyone here been skiing in NM? If so, can you give me which mountain/resort you went to and your experience? Thinking about making a road trip there from Dallas in the next couple of months.
I've been to Tahoe, Breck, Aspen, Keystone, Winter Park, and Park City.

Taos is my favorite in New Mexico. A lot of the other mountains are pretty tame. Stayed in a nice condo but can't remember the details.

Taos is awesome but steep.
Red River is cheap and easy, but depending on the year, could suck with no snow.
We used to go to Red River every year for spring back in college because it was cheap. It was always 50/50 whether or not the snow would be good.

My brother just got back from Taos last night. Said the snow was excellent.

I went skiing in Santa Fe a couple years ago and it was awesome

I went to Angel Fire and it was total crap. They couldn't make enough snow to cover most of the slopes. From what I hear NM is very hit or miss when it comes to this.

Seeing the big Colorado resorts you've been to, I think you'll be disappointed with every ski resort in NM except Taos.

Taos is the only place worth a shite in NM

Well, I was trying to put it a little nicer.

Been to Red River many times as well as Taos and skied Angel Fire once.
If you have kids, stay in Red River and ski there 1-2 days then drive back/forth to Taos (less than an hour drive). As mentioned Red River is cheap (lift tickets & accommodations) but pretty decent skiing if they have decent snow. You will get bored with that mountain after 2-3 days.
Taos generally catches a lot more snow than Red River (even though they are very close) and is a great place to ski/eat and hang out.

Taos is great. Hotel St. Bernard is great if staying a week. Includes about all you need except skis and liquor. . Rio Hondo condos have nice outdoor hot tub and next to ski school.

Unless you board Taos is the only one really worth a shite. Angel Fire is good for boarders but a small mountain. I loved the challenge of Taos, their blues are everywhere elses blacks. At least that was my experience when i went.
Great steeps and bumps and if you aren't a good skier they have or did have the best ski school in the country. Absolutely no night life but the powder, oh the powder. Wolf Creek is fairly close to their as well. Worth checking out IMO

I also went to Angel Fire 2 years ago in December. Not enough snow, actually it was all ice. Quite crappy.

I have skied at Ruidoso but it's been years
Skiing was nice but not near as many runs as you get in Colorado.
Also, the drive to get to the skiing is a pain and scary as hell.
