Any guess why loyola starting pay is higher? Is it because they are hired in Nola?

Its always good to look at % employed and % reporting. LSU gets an extremely large section of their class jobs in comparison to Loyola

Tulanes stats are skewed by the top of classes getting Big(er) firm job OOS in large markets. If staying in LA the top of LSU and Tulane have the same potential

Percentage of students employed at graduation:
Southern: N/A
LSU: 36.8%
Tulane: 36.8%
Loyola: 39.2%

I waited about 5 months before I got hired.

If you aren't employed at graduation, you will most likely not get employed until October when the bar results come out. Employers don't want to take a risk of hiring a mistake in the inbetween.

Logic dictates that law school would be a bad idea. However, I feel drawn to it despite the fact that my undergrad degree has great career prospects. I find law interesting and deep down, I have the desire to some day run for public office. Also, in my career field, contract law and arbitration is highly important. Is law school really the massive mistake everyone says it is even if I go through a night program while working full time?

That's got to be skewed by some factors. With less debt load, I'd guess that LSU grads are more free to accept jobs that pay less.

I'm not complaining overall, but the methodology used is pretty laughable (the link to it is in the page link posted).

Just don't get it too much debt to do it and you'll be okay, and also try to plot your career course early.

Holy shite. Although I agree that employment %s post-bar are probably a better metric.

Also I am calling rank bs on Loyola having the employment outcomes.

lol true...
Those rankings give too much weight to elite clerkships as well. That is such a minuscule factor outside the very elite.

But for Loyola IMO its better to be unranked than to showup as 144 or whatever

The most underrated things about LSs are their regional quality outside the top 14ish. I would like to see Loyola's employment #s for the Civil program only. I imagine the Common track brings the employment #s down

Agreed. The school doesn't exactly have OOS employers knocking on the door. I think this is what too many common law students aren't aware of coming in. Many of them end up sitting for the LA bar because employment prospects are better here for Loyola grads. However, many of these people don't take enough of the civil law curriculum to prepare themselves for the bar. In turn, the bar passage rates are skewed as well.

Jesus. How much per week? Every summer associate position in NOLA is in the neighborhood of ~$1400/week
