Cousin was NOPD at that time, the prostitute was his informant, he said she was so ugly and skanky a donkey would not have sex with her. She was a filthy scum bag.
Here is a man who was worth millions fooling with her,

I graduated HS with a guy who started going to Jimmy Swaggart's school and church about 3 or 4 years after we graduated and he tried to get me to get involved.

He came to my house one day and he told me he started "living for the lord" and he didn't really say much until right before he was about to leave. He told me he started going to Swaggart's church. He referred to him as "brother Jimmy".

A few days later he came by for a few mins, just shot the shite for a few minutes then gave me a few CDs and told me he wanted to leave me a few CDs for me to listen to if I ever get the time. I just threw them to the side (they were burnt CDs).

Several days later he came back and asked me if I had a chance to listen to the CDs. When I told him no he asked if we could listen to them together. At that point I told him.. I am paraphrasing here, I don't remember the exact words, but it was pretty much "dude, if you are trying to talk me into going to Jimmy Swaggart's church you are wasting your time. I have no interest at all in going"

He started telling me about how he was going to his school and that I should give him a chance by going to one of his services. And that if I am judging him because of his past then I need to learn about forgiveness, etc, etc. I asked him if he would give me an opportunity to convince him to believe what I believe in. He told me his faith was based on what he has learned at Swaggart's church.

He was always a pretty cool guy, I had nothing against him, so I told him that I had no problem continue being his friend, etc, but he was wasting his time if he was trying to get me to go to church with him. He got up and asked me "can I have the CDs I gave you the other day?" I gave them to him and he told me some shite about how he hopes I accepts Jesus Christ in my life before it is too late and to call him if I ever realize that that is what I have to do.

Yeah...that's what I am most surprised about. Like why come here all the way from Cali, after everything had hit the fan?? Very odd.

He went down badly for a few years. He actually started over in the mid/late 90's with a somewhat novel approach for that time. Within 5 years he was was able to amass almost ***100 radio stations (bought, paid for, by donations and operated 24/7/365 with ONLY his broadcasts, no advertising, no leasing time slots, etc. All is kept in the "family", promoting the "family"... no outsiders or guest preachers except an occasional former understudy, and only those in 100% agreement with his agenda.

***[ALL bought with donations... this is a BRILLIANT scheme....he maintains tax free status but instead of spending donations building schools in poverty stricken countries, outreach programs, foreign aid, relief funds, etc., he has found a way to KEEP ALL of the donations he receives by spending on tangible commodities (commercial real estate) that still qualify under church status...(FCC frequencies / brick and mortar stations, etc... all broadcasting to "spread the word".) He then went back to television, slowly but steadily built a new "media" based following]

Today he is broadcast around the clock in 104 countries worldwide, has an audience of approx. 200 million viewers world wide, he has done all of this almost "under the radar" from the "mainstream"... his local church building is still BARELY half full on a good Sunday BUT with TV, radio, and live internet broadcasts, he is actually now BIGGER than he was before the scandals.

I know all of this because I was affiliated with broadcasting, TV and radio, until I took early retirement last year and know a lot of people he hires/hired for production, design, engineers, etc. The guy is a human cockroach...the massive buildings on Bluebonnet are staffed by a skeleton crew, each person fulfilling several job titles. He recently re-tooled his production studios with state of the art gear (again) he is also in his mid-80's, is up before the sun, and works 7 days week. I cannot find any admiration at all for his character but I only hope I'll have that kind of stamina and drive at that age.

I remember that at the time he got caught conducting his sinful indiscretion, he was having that dormitory/office building built on Bluebonnet. It then sat as an abandoned eyesore for years and years before it became that hotel. There must have been pigeon shite two feet deep in that place.

My grandfather was a pentacostal minster for over 50yrs. He left the UPC organization because of Jimmy Swaggert back in the earlier 70's. He told me stories of the young Jimmy Swaggart coming to preach at his church in MS at the time. Swaggart really bothered the old timers in the church because he was so over the top. You have to watch the pentecostal's it can be very cult like in some churches.

Maybe they came because of the scandals.

OP said: "Yeah, you know Jimmy Swaggart? My family followed him here." And that was all he said.

Maybe his parents work for Jimmy. Who knows, they could have heard him on some radio or internet broadcast and felt led to help his ministry.

How are those stats "under the radar?" Those are similar numbers to those of a big pop star's video on Youtube. Unbelievable.

Yeah and that's weird as shite. Worshiping the Lord, if that is what you feel in your heart to do, is not about praising one man. You see it all the time, in churches big and small. Speaking of Pentecostals, I have been told about their tithing structure, and let's just say it's all about putting the pastor in a big house and putting more in the plate than 10%.

Seriously, we were around Corporate/Town Center and he acted like he had never been over there before. Maybe they've had him locked up in those creepy dorm-apartments on Bluebonnet all these years and he's just getting out.

Does the Pentecostal church as a whole, believe you have to be saved in order to go to heaven?

I do agree they are very cult like. My sister (half-sister) and her family use to go to a Pentecostal church and one time my nephew told me "if you don't get saved you will go to hell" and I told him to stop believing in that shite and my sister got mad at me. She started telling me that we do need to be saved to get to heaven, blah blah and that at some point in everyone's life they will have an opportunity to "find Jesus" and be saved, so I started throwing all types of scenarios at her and she told me I was putting too much thought into it..

that is one of the corner stones of their believe is being saved to get to heaven. I joke with my mom (very liberal pentescostal) that i quite going to church at 14 because she told me heaven was for all religions. I am now a methodist!
