When my son was born I hired a guy to come mow my yard because I was at the hospital a few days and I hadn't had time to do it that week. I knew the guy a little but he had never been to my house before. Anyway, he finished and I sent him a check and I ran into him a few days later. He said that when he was mowing there was an old man walking in and out of my house but he never saw a vehicle come or go. He described him and I knew exactly who it was from how he was dressed. He said eventually the man looked annoyed and would just watch him mow the backyard almost looking confused. Finally he decided to go see if he needed something and within a moment he was gone. He walked all around the house and saw nobody. I pulled up a picture on my phone of me and my grandpa from when I was younger and you could see he got chills when he recognized him. He had died a few years before then. My son had been named after him and all we could tell was that he had come by to see him.

That week my grandmother came over to visit and she said she spoke to my grandpa who said the boy was beautiful. My grandma is a little crazy but she does think she sees him and talks to him like it's normal he is there. Well now my son is a little older and he knows who he was named after but we don't really talk about it a lot. Well one day he saw a picture of my grandpa in an album and asked who he was so we talked about it a little and my son says " yeah I know him. I see him outside sometimes". That freaked me out but was also kinda cool. I've never seen him but there's gotta be something there. It's cool and surreal all at once.

I like that version of it, but it's based on a very very old story.

I bet there is a new version of the "boyfriend hanging dead above the car with his ring scraping the roof" story as well.

Just went back to read the one about the letter to the 6 year old. In my mind I pictured the same town as Pen Pals.

Just read the SAR stories and I liked them. Some of the comments in there were good too. Does anyone have any experiences like that? I grew up playing in the woods in the 80s and remember some crazy experiences but never really could explain any of them. These stories brought back memories I hadn't thought of in decades. I really believe there is some pure evil out there though.

Yeah once I saw that picture of your grandpa through your window it wasn't that hard to get the costume right. I like what you've done with the place by the way.

Back during my first marriage in the late 80s, my Ex, young daughter, and I were living in our first house, a small house in a Texas coastal town. I liked watching "This Old House" with Bob Villa. I got the idea I'd like to try the old house thing. There weren't many to chose from in the town, but there was a big old two story place that had been vacant for a long time and I notice a realtor had recently put up a sign. I decided to check it out.

I knew we couldn't afford to spend much at that time, but thought we'd check into it. We toured the house and structurally it was solid, but needed a lot of cosmetic and infrastructure work. To make a long story shorter, I make a ridiculous offer. The real estate agent said they probably would be offended, but they accepted the offer. I never even met the seller during the closing. It was in an estate of some sort.

We move from a 1200 sq ft house into about 4000 sq ft. It had four bedrooms, one on each corner of the upstairs with a jack and jill bath between each bedroom and a staircase that came up the middle with a rail around the upstairs like a u-shape. Our bedroom was on one corner and our daughter's was across the hall.

We had been there a couple of weeks, when one night I had a "dream" that was so vivid it fricked me up. I dreamed that I was laying in bed wide awake looking at the ceiling, when I became aware of someone standing next to me. I couldn't move my head to look, but I got the feeling it was a female. Whoever it was, seemed to just be looking at us. "She" then placed her hand on my shoulder, which I could feel, and leaned and said to somebody, "What about the five year old?" My daughter was five years old and I tried to scream at them, but couldn't move or talk. I was asleep. I struggled to wake up and finally did. My heart was pounding and I got up and went over to my daughter's room and she was sound asleep. I thought, "Damn! That was a fricked up dream." I didn't mention it to anyone.

A few nights later, my daughter wakes me up wanting get in bed with us because she was scared, which was pretty normal. I asked her if she had a bad dream. She said, "Somebody touched me." The hair stood up on the back of my neck. I still didn't mention it to the Ex.

Some time later, I was washing my car in the driveway. A car pulls up and a nice looking young lady gets out and walks up and introduces herself and explains she and her family used to live there and she always remembers how much she liked it. She asked if she could look around, and since she was nice looking, I said, "Sure". We walked through the house and she was reminiscing about things and as she was about to leave, she asked, "Has anything weird happened since you've lived here?" I said, "What do you mean?" I still didn't want to say anything about what had happened to me, because I never believe this kind of shite. She went on to tell me a couple of stories where her Dad had seen an apparition of a lady walking down the stairs and another about an incident during a gathering at their house when she was small. She had been instructed to go upstairs and take a bath and go to bed. When she went to her bathroom, the door were locked on both sides. She figured her sister was in there and she wouldn't unlock the doors. She went back downstairs to complain and her Mom explained her sister was downstairs in another room playing. She and her Mom went back up and both doors were wide open and the tub was still wet and there was a strong scent of perfume. Whatever happen, fricked them up.

A few weeks later, I answer the doorbell and it is a couple that look like movie stars. Handsome guy and a blonde with big tits. They are driving a red Corvette. I'm thinking, "Who the frick is this?" It turns out the guy is a banker in Austin and is the grandson of the original owners. He was the one that sold me the house. He asked to look around because he had a lot of memories being there as a kid. I said, "Sure." the EX was there at the time and we all walked round and he talked about some things about his Grandparents. His Grandfather had been Mayor of the town and a county commissioner. Anyway, as we were talking by their car when they were ready to leave, he asked, "Has anything weird happened since you've lived here?" I say, "What do you mean?" He tells me a friend of his, who is a police detective, named Michael, was divorced and needed a place to stay so he let him live in the house and sort of watch the place (that guy is now the Mayor of the town). He said one day, Michael called him really shook up. Michael told him that he used the bedroom attached to the only shower to sleep and keep his stuff. He had a chair next to the door of the bathroom where he would hang his gun and his clothes. This day, he had taken a shower and when he opened the door to get his clothes, the chair had been moved to the other side of the room. He thought someone was in the house and started looking and opened the closest were he keeps his underwear and clothes, and sees in plain view, a ladies wallet. He opened the wallet and it had belonged to bankers Grandmother. It fricked him up and he moved out. I shared my experience with them and the Ex. My daughter still remembers getting "touched".

One last story. Some time later, I was the coach of our company softball team and we held a BBQ at the house. It was the players, wives, girlfriends, and kids. After everyone had left, I went to the kitchen to get a toothpick that we kept in a silly little jar with a chicken on the lid. I couldn't find it. I looked everywhere and asked the Ex about. We couldn't find it. I wondered why in the frick would someone steal that thing and what else was missing. For several days I would look for it and wondered which a-hole took it. One evening we were getting ready to go out to eat and as we headed to the door, there the jar sat on the counter in plain view. My Ex and I just looked at each other.

That was the last thing that happened. The "ghosts" were fricking with us. But, we were never really scared about it.

Distant relative's daughter in law shows up at her house in the middle of the night in hysterics with her newborn child. Absolutely inconsolable. They thought about calling a mental institution she was so messed up. Called their son, her husband who was offshore, convincing him to leave his shift early to be with her.

She tells her mother in law that she heard a ghost. Young bride was washing clothes late at night when she hears something come up behind her and say "don't let the baby by the water" (house was located near a bayou).

No matter what her husband said or would do, she refused to go back to the house. She would not even go back to retrieve her and the baby's belongings. No one ever really believed her but did find it strange she was that shaken up over the event.

Years went by and the family had moved on from the incident. The mother in law was with a group of people and one of them asks her about the old house her son bought on the bayou. She tells him they moved out (not mentioning the ghost story). The guy stated when he was a kid, a child drowned in the bayou behind that house and the mother killed herself over the incident.

The mother in law told me she had a panic attack and almost passed out when the old guy told her that. True story but I still don't believe in ghosts.

I got really creeped out a few years ago, when someone on this very forum had posted that his sister was dating a creepy dude. The poster had a bad feeling about him and was asking for advice as to how to handle it. The boyfriend turned out to be a serial killer!

Yea - that was Adam4LSU. His sister was dating Brandon Scott Lavergne at the time, who days before had killed Mickey Schunick, and also admitted to killing Lisa Pate. There were always rumors that ID's of other missing women were found at his house after he was arrested, but nothing ever came of that.
